Deviation Actions
General Rules
Realistically, cats would not be inclined to change clans, and it is very much frowned upon within the clans. Such cats are often considered traitors by their former clan. As such, members are not normally allowed to move cats from one Clan to another.
No godmoding. This includes controlling another players cat in RPs as well as using another players cat in a story or picture in a way against the RPers wishes and being unwilling to change it.
If you have a question that you'd like answered, please note the group. It's more likely that your question will be answered sooner and that way all the mods are able to see it
Hiatuses are a privilege and will not always be granted. They must have a set or estimated time of return (extensions can be requested). We've had too many folks ask for a hiatus and not remember to tell us they are no longer on hiatus. For short term hiatuses, at the end of the hiatus you will automatically be taken off hiatus at the end of it and expected to do assignments like normal.
For long term hiatuses, at the end of the hiatus if there has been no activity on the account, the RPer will be removed from the group with the option of rejoining with all of their characters at a later date.
Hiatuses should be used for when you are unable to do art for reasons such as, but not limited to: no internet, broken equipment, school, family needs, ect. It should not be requested so you can concentrate more on other art, art block, or DA groups.
If you are short on time and expect to be gone for a long time or are losing interest, but don't want your characters to die, consider speaking with the mods about the option of leaving the group on good terms that would allow you to bring your cats back if you rejoin at a later, less busy date.
Roleplaying Rules
Please keep in mind that the feelings and actions of a person's character do not necessarily reflect the feelings of the roleplayer. If you are offended by the character's actions and really feel the need to report it to an admin, feel free to do so, but we cannot police the actions of roleplay characters based on their personalities.
Please don't police or ask other members to change how their character reacts to a roleplay! Each roleplayer knows their character the best, and it's considered pretty rude to ask them to change their reaction. If someone does this to you, feel free to send an admin over and we can chat with them!

Designs & Characters
Female heights - Male heights
Mutations and special traits such as, but not limited to heterochromia, Munchkin, Albinism, folded ears, no tails, diminutive stature/tea cup cat must be asked about for new and current members. If you're uncertain at all ask ahead.
While some breeds are based around or known for traits such as size, curled ears, munchkin legs, lack of fur, etc, not all cats within breeds like American Curls or Munchkins will exhibit the traits the breeds are famous for. You are welcome to say your cat has these breeds in its ancestry but just because they are part Scottish fold or part Sphinx does not automatically allow you the traits the breed is famous for. You still have to ask prior to creating your character if you want the special traits.
Keep in mind clan cats are going to be mixes, and they don't live near where twolegs live, so pure bred cats or even mostly pure bred cats are very rare in and around the clans.
Kits are exclusive to adoption from litters, meaning no new kits unless they are born from a pairing. (This is to prevent still-births from lack of adoption from litters.)
In Dawn-of-Warriors you can create a new character once every two months. In instances where one might want to make siblings, age mates, ect, that would need to be introduced together this can be done if no other character has been made in a six month period. If you have just joined the group with your first character, you can create a second character right away but your next character needs to wait two months. Kits from litters and other cats adopted within the group do not count towards these limits.
Within cooldowns, you can create new characters as an apprentices or warriors, 6 moons for apprentices, 12 and up for warriors. Apprentices and warriors need to be clan born and written into the clans history, which means that their histories need to make sense and blend with that of the clan. Major occurrences that would effect them should be included and things that do not mesh with the clans history like parents or siblings being killed in a fire, skirmishes with another clan, or by predators are not accepted unless it was a part of the history.
You can create a new character in both your secondary and primary clans, but the cooldown is shared between the two clans. And in secondary clans, you will need to have completed at least one assignment in the clan that year prior to asking to create a new character OR have drawn at least three pieces of art for the clan throughout the past year. In the request for the new character you will need to provide evidence of this activity before your new character can be accepted. Cooldowns are still the same and are shared between your primary and secondary clans, so make sure to mind those as well.
You can only kill off/remove one character every six months. (This is to prevent people from constantly killing/abandoning and remaking characters)
NPCs
Elders are semi NPC characters as they are RP-able.
Family NPCs are NPC family members such as parents, siblings, grandparents and other cats who help enrich an active cats history. These are non RP-able characters. Mentions of such cats on app sheets are completely normal and fine as long as they do not affect current events, as long as they are unofficial they should be history and background flavor only.
Officially recognized NPC family members are looked over similarly to any other kind of new character. They are still not RP-able but such cats can affect the appearance of descendants or other family members and follow normal character creation rules.
Family Adopts
Members may create up to a maximum of 3 NPC Family Character Adopts to post as tryouts every 6 months.
You must have owned the character for at least 6 months and have drawn/written about them a minimum of 4 times before requesting to create Family Adopt Try outs for them.
For more information on family adopts please look at the Character Creation journal.

Kits and Couples
No pre-made mates or anything like that please. <3 Siblings are allowed though.
Pairings need at least one picture or story from each RPer before it becomes official.
InterClan pairings are not impossible to get but will be considered carefully before being granted. The admins want to see a fair bit of activity and development between the cats as friends before giving permission for the relationship to be an officially recognized ship.
Before the kits are born (preferably long before) note the group with names and designs. Please link parents and any other relevant family members either with the kits designs or in the note.
Kits must realistically resemble their parents or other relatives that have been active characters in the group. Relatives that have not been officially recognized by the group may not be used to affect the kits designs.
You can ask anyone to surrogate for a litter if your pair can not have kits on their own, but there is 1 extra required piece of art, writing or both to be able to do this. You will need to post a piece of the couple asking the desired cat to be their surrogate and the surrogate agreeing to help them out.
Additionally, some optional prompts to get more activity towards your litter, these prompts are optional for surrogate pairings;
1) A piece where the pair is discussing who they might want to ask to be their surrogate
2) A piece where the Surrogate considered if they want to do this or not
We have this rule because we feel including a new cat in the dynamic is a decision that should be thought about and discussed in character. In the cases where a new RPer is asked to be a surrogate it gives them a chance to have some agency over how their character reacts to being asked to be such an important player in helping a pair start a family. This will also hopefully help all RPers involved feel more connected and be able to character build off this decision.
Primary and Secondary Clan Rules
Switching your Primary Clan should not be done on a whim and will only rarely be allowed.
Being in a Secondary Clan is a privilege not a right.
You can be in a maximum of two Clans. You only start in one Clan, see below for how to get into a Secondary Clan.
Members do not have to do assignments for their Secondary Clan.
Creation of cats in Secondary Clans are restricted to these options:
Option one: People can adopt a kit from their pairings litters in their secondary clan.
(So if your primary is SeaClan but you have a ship in StoneClan you can have a kit from their litter)
Option two: Special events/prizes. These will allow people with only one clan to branch into a secondary.
We will also give free secondary character creation places for contest prizes.
Option three: Members are allowed to tryout for kits in their Secondary Clan.
Members with only a Primary Clan may attempt to join a Secondary Clan by trying out for a kit from a litter.
Option four: People can adopt cats on the adoptions journal from their Secondary Clan.
Non-Clan Cats
Loners and Rouges do not count against your character limit but generally you may not have more than one at a time.
Non-clan histories are generally treated as a special trait, must be asked for ahead of time, and will be monitored to make sure that there are not too many in a given clan at the same time. Having a clan that's half former loners would be silly.
Having a cat who is a loner or rouge, as opposed to part of a Clan is only allowed to active members.
More an explanation than a rule: For our group Loners are Clanless cats who are not actively aggressive towards Clan cats while Rouges are Clanless cats who for one reason or another are hostile to Clan cats.
The Clans do not live close enough to human settlements to see kittypets on the whole and don't really know much of anything about them, save for cats who have spent time away from the Clans.
Before asking a question, be sure that it hasn't already been clarified in the journal before posting below.

Kind Comments
are they when you join or... I never hear people mention assignments in groups before so that kind of confuses me.
